Princess Charlotte's Birth Brought Joy to Millions

It seems that Princess Charlotte has already caught the eyes and adoration for the world just a few days after her birth.  Let’s do a little recap on the events following the birth of our adorable and lovely Princess Charlotte.

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to the princess at 8.34 am on May 2, 2015. She weighed 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was with beside the duchess when she delivered the baby.  The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and other members of Royal Family were immediately informed of the news.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their baby daughter made their first appearance outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, leaving for Kensington Palace soon after. After their first few nights in the palace, the family of four left for their country home, Anmer Hall, in the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk on Tuesday.

The delightful baby was named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Charlotte is a popular name in the Royal Family. Charlotte is derived from the male name Charles. King George III’s wife Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Their eldest daughter, the princess royal, was also named Charlotte. King George IV’s daughter, Princess Charlotte, could have been queen had she outlived both her father and grandfather, King George III.

Of course, the princess’ second name, Elizabeth, was in honor of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen’s mother, the popular Queen Mother, was also named Elizabeth.

Obviously Diana is a lovely way to remember Prince William’s mother, the late princess of Wales, who tragically died in 1997.

Princess Charlotte is styled Her Royal Highness with the territorial designation “of Cambridge,” just like her older brother, Prince George of Cambridge. However, this could change in the event that Prince William, as heir to the throne, assumes the Prince of Wales.

The birth of Princess Charlotte surely brought cheer and jubilation, particularly to Queen Elizabeth II, who was “as thrilled as fans” as she excitedly shared at the Buckingham Palace garden party that she was glad to have another great-granddaughter.

"We love having another girl," the Queen said.   

Meanwhile, in commemoration of the princess’ birth, the Royal Mint produced four coins with price ranging from £13 to £1,800, although the value of the metal more affordable.

It seems Princess Charlotte’s birth also gave Prince Harry a change of heart… By then 30 years old, Prince Harry hinted that he would love to settle down, start his own family and have someone to "share the pressure" of royal life with. 

"There come times when you think now is the time to settle down, or now is not, whatever way it is," he said in an interview with Sky News correspondent Rhiannon Mills while on a tour Down Under.

"I don't think you can force these things, it will happen when it's going to happen.”
